PETA wants ‘YOU…to go vegan’ this Inauguration Day

Inauguration Day is about to get very revealing in the name of vegan diets — People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is plastering the D.C. parade route with posters featuring a bikini-clad reality TV star urging Americans to go meat-free.

A star-spangled bikini-wearing Courtney Stodden is seen in the posters, obtained exclusively by ITK from PETA. Sporting a “sexy Uncle Sam” look, Stodden is shown modeling a red, white, and blue top hat and pointing her finger above the message: “I want YOU…to go vegan. Join the Animals’ Party!”

The ads will be placed on bus shelters on the parade route for President-elect Donald Trump’s Jan. 20 inauguration, as well as along the walking path to the inaugural festivities from several of Washington’s Metro stations.

“Whether you’re kicking up your heels or wallowing in despair over the election, you can love PETA’s Animals’ Party,” Stodden told ITK in a statement. “PETA and I encourage everyone to start 2017 off right by going vegan, getting healthy, and saving animals’ lives.”

It’s not the first time that 22-year-old Stodden, who appeared in VH1’s “Couples Therapy” and the British version of “Celebrity Big Brother,” has teamed up with PETA while showing some skin in the nation’s capital. In 2014, Stodden helped dispense veggie dogs outside of the Rayburn House Office building — wearing only an itsy-bitsy lettuce bikini.

“There are plenty of reasons to join the Animals’ Party,” a PETA spokeswoman said in a statement. “On average, vegans are significantly leaner than meat-eaters are, and they’re less prone to suffering from heart disease, strokes, diabetes, cancer, and obesity.”

PETA has a history of generating some buzz during inaugural events. In 2009, PETA supporters donned animal costumes and distributed vegan hot cocoa to inauguration-goers, while holding “Yes We Can Go Veg” and “Be Fur-Free” signs. Mascots for the organization — including the characters Chris P. Carrot, Celery Stalk, and Mother Earth — were at it again in 2013, when they doled out vegan starter kits to attendees at President Obama’s second inauguration.
